Collection contains:
Photographs taken and collected by William Henry Ebbitt during his service during World War One. Photographs mainly taken in Egypt depict other military personnel including S S M Ebbitt with Sgt Curtis and Sgt Hines wounded in hospital, Corporal Ferguson of the 9th Squadron from Mohaka Wairoa, Major Armstrong, Father McDonald, D. McMillan, W. O'Donald, 9th Squadron officers and football team, Turk prisoners, military horses (feeding, watering, under fire, treking), desert patrol, Indian transport men, camel transports, military camps (Bir el Maler, Kirba, Romani), visiting ancient Egyptian tombs at Katia (Quatia), and an aeroplane which landed behind their lines.
Includes a photograph postcard from W H Ebbitt to his brother Len (dated November 1917). Text of postcard transcribed by Gillian Dunkley.
Photographs are numbered from 1 to 102 (note there is some duplicates with differing annotations on the back) and are accompanied by documentation which provides information and notes relating to each photograph and biographic information relating to Ebbitt. This documentation was compiled by Gillian Dunkley.
A selection of the photographs has been digitised by John Dunkley in January and February 2015.

Corporal William Henry Ebbitt, of Wairoa, served in the Wellington Mounted Rifles (Regiment No. 11/250) during World War I. He saw action at Gallipoli and Eygpt.
