Electronic document entitled "Folk in Wellington", telling the history of the Wellington Folk Festival and the presence of folk music in Wellington, written by Sharyn Staley for the fortieth anniversary of the festival in 2004.
The document discusses the opening of the Monde Marie in 1958, the first Wellington Folk Festival in 1965, and highlights from the 1960s and 1970s for the Wellington Folk Club, and its membership. Also discusses the establishment of the Wellington Folk Centre and their concerts, Friday night coffee bar evenings; Sunday concerts; the Heritage magazine and newsletter; national and international performers at the festival over the years; the 25th anniversary of the festival in 1989; the 30th anniversary in 1994; and the Folk Festival in the 2000s.
