Description

A typescript thesis (or draft of a book) relating to the history of Lake Waikaremoana which includes colour photographic prints of places including Panekiri Bluff (photographer, author and date unknown). Included with the typescript are copies of Māori whakapapa, and photocopied extracts from the "Wairoa minute book", dated 1915, which relate to the author's research. Probably taken from Maori Land Court records.

Also twenty-four black and white photographic copy prints relating to Rua Kenana, his wives, the religious community at Maungapōhatu, and the Maungapōhatu temple. Includes photographs of the police raid at Maungapōhatu, and the capture of Rua Kenana. Original photographs would have been taken circa 1908-1916. All photographs have annotations on the reverse. Some of the prints appear to be copies of 'file prints' from the Alexander Turnbull Library.
