Mounted group portrait of theatre performers in costume and military orchestra. Taken in Salisbury, England, by an unidentified photographer between 1917 and 1919.
Gladys Wilkin is seated on a chair, fourth on the right. The women's costumes include long skirts, waistcoats, sleeved blouses, and headscarves. The men's costumes include tasselled floppy hats, loosley tied cummerbunds, and collared long-sleeved shirts. Both men and women wear large hoop earrings. Orchestra members wear military uniforms and hold their instruments (including a double bass, flute, clarinet, violin, viola, trombone, cornet, and snare drum).
