Scenes from a tangihanga at a Te Kaha marae, and a Roman Catholic funeral service, taken in December 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified.
Images show Maori women with kuia on the mahau or meeting house porch, the hangi pit being opened, and a Roman Catholic priest leading the funeral procession to the cemetery. The church stands in the background.
