Images from a tangihanga; scenes from the Maori Festival of the Arts, Ngaruawahia, and scenes from the Ngaruawahia Primary School, taken in 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified.
Images show mourners sitting with the deceased on the mahau (porch area of the whare nui, or meeting house). Deceased identified as young victim of a motorcycle accident. Interior scenes from the Arts Festival show viewers looking at exhibits. A woman looking at a sculptured head in frame 6 has been identified at a later date as Bunny Tapara. Also includes scenes of children outside a school building at Ngaruawahia Primary School.
