Images show scenes from the annual coronation hui held at Turangawaewae Marae, Ngaruawahia, taken in 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified.
Images show scenes of people attending the annual coronation celebrations , frames 1-4 show Rebecca, who is the subject of a book by Gregory Riethmaier titled "Rebecca and the Maoris", a(Rebecca Faulkner, now known as Ripeka Chaplow). Also shown is a group of koroua sitting down, including Te Hare Piahana (on the right in frames 5 and 6). A reverend standing outside a meeting house (named as Reverend Kahui at a later date by an unidentified attendee at the hui), women dancing on the veranda of a meeting house and two young men lying on the banks of a river.
