Description

One panel shows two cotton-picking slaves in the American South in the 1850s being told by an overseer "No meals, no breaks! Keep working!", and in the next panel, two Cotton On employees in New Zealand 2015 are being told the same thing by their supervisor. Refers to Australian clothing retail chain Cotton On which planned to change its staff collective agreement so that employees at its Auckland distribution centre would have to individually negotiate a tea and lunch break, following the introduction of a law that took away the legal right to a tea break. The proposed changes created a public backlash and the company backed down on the plan.
