- Description
'Klarc' cartoons commenting on political and social issues in New Zealand published in the Northern Advocate on Saturdays and also some published in the local Whangarei 'Scene' magazine.
Shows a couple hiking in New Zealand bush. The man says "Someone in Auckland stayed up a Kauri tree for four days", and the woman replies "They really should do something about their affordable housing problem". Refers to protester, Michael Taveres, who staged a demonstration in an ancient Kauri tree in Titirangi, West Auckland, after it was marked for felling to allow for building work. Wider context also refers to the ongoing discussion around house prices in Auckland.
