Description

Shows a member of the Advertising Standards Authority telling a Burger King executive that the company can keep the ad featuring bikini-clad women that generated public complaint, but must replace the slim model with a grossly overweight one, suggesting that this is how people who eat burgers tend to look

The Complaints Board originally ruled to uphold the public complaints about the Burger King Texas Bacon Double Whopper advertisement, after a meeting in May 2007. In August 2007, Burger King appealed this decision, based on the fact that this was one of a series of advertisements featuring bikini-clad women (about which there had also been complaints, but those had not been upheld). The company maintained that the intention of the advertisement was to be light-hearted and not at all offensive, especially to women. The final decision was to partly dismiss and partly allow the appeal
