The Politician tells his colleague, Jim, that he is eager to be at "the daily scrum". Jim is surprised about his enthusiasm for "dealing with the press". It turns out that The Politician was referring to the "rush for chocolate biscuits at the caucus meeting".
"The daily scrum" is an informal term, used by journalists for press conferences, where politicians address members of the media.
