Typescript draft of `Tales of Ta'Ia'Rapu: A South Sea interlude', set in Tahiti and illustrated with 30 original black and white photographs taken by the author. The forward explains that Ta'ia'rapu is `that comparatively large peninsula [of Tahiti]...which has suffered least at the hands of civilisation'. Tipped into the draft is a letter to Emery from Kenneth Melvin, a public relations consultant of Auckland, forwarding on to him a letter from Peter Buck, dated 13 Oct 1949, expressing interest in the manuscript but declining Emery's request for Bernice P Bishop Museum to assist in its publication. Also pasted into the volume are four published articles by Emery: `In far Tahiti; the valley of Vaiote' [unidentified periodical]; `Ata' Aroa; A South sea gem', Times of India Illustrated weekly 30 Sep 1928; `Domestic simplicity in the South Seas', Times of India Illustrated weekly, 18 Nov 1928 and `Motor trails of Tahiti [Unidentified US periodical]
