The Prime Minister, John Key holds two glove puppets, Peter Dunne and Te Ururoa Flavell. The Flavell puppet says 'Thanks for inviting me to address United Future's conference Peter!' The Dunne puppet replies 'Delighted Ururoa, we independent thinkers need to stick together...'
On 9 November 2013 The Maori Party co-leader, Te Ururoa Flavell, addressed the United Future Party conference. Mr Flavell discussed how the two small parties could work together, but claimed that his attendance was not about presenting an image of a credible partnership with United Future. The cartoonist's view is that since both parties are puppets of the National Party, calling them 'independent' was delusionary.
