- Description
Cartoons shows a man reading a bedtime story to his son from the storybook 'The Economy'. The story starts, "Once upon a time there lived a trickle down theory where the peasants shared the spoils of the rich plutocrats". Refers to application of the trickle-down theory to the New Zealand economy by reducing the top tax-rate in order to allow richer people to invest more in the economy and increase the wealth of less well-off citizens. However, as inequality is increasing in New Zealand this theory is widely believed to be false.
