- Description
The Prime Minister, John Key, struggles, trying to keep his head above water. Around him are four punctured and useless life jackets, labelled 'ACT', 'United Future', 'Maori Party' and 'Conservatives'. He gasps 'Has sombody got decent lifejacket?'
By the end of 2013, the minor parties supporting the National Government, ACT, United Future and Maori Party, faced extinction after the 2014 elections. The conservatives had yet to gain a seat in Parliament and were too eccentric in belief and behaviour to be a reliable ally. Since 1996 all governments were reliant on the support of minor parties.
