A consumer, drowning in handouts, circulars and other advertising media, struggles to read a newspaper which reports that 'No one to blame for Pike River?' He cries '"Silly season?" This latest news is driving me crazy!'
On 12 December 2013 The Royal Commission investigating the Pike River coal mine disaster dropped all 12 charges against the CEO Peter Whittall under the Health and Safety in Employment Act relating to the Pike River mine disaster. This action was widely criticised, but news of the findings was buried in the pre-Christmas shopping and advertising frenzy.
