Description

The Politician tells his assistant that the government cannot afford to pay 'this massive wage bill' and some civil servants will need to be laid off. His assistant does so and returns with 'a massive redundancy bill'.

On 15 November 2013 the State Services Commission revealed that the number of core public servants had risen and was one position below a cap set in March 2012. Government departments would need to cut staff. A survey showed 696 public servants were made redundant in the year to June 30 2013, with payments totalling $33m.
