Winston Peters, the leader of New Zealand First, dressed as a cowboy, announces that his Party will act to stop the Kiwisaver 'gravy train', from which 22 billion dollars were vanishing as investment fees by private funds managers.
A new superannuation fund for KiwiSaver contributors over the next thirty years would be proposed by New Zealand First at the 2014 General Election. An outline plan of "KiwiFund" was announced by Winston Peters at the party's annual convention in Christchurch. Peters said that private funds managers had already taken $325 million in management and investment fees from Kiwisaver and that over the next thirty years funds managers will take more than $22 billion from KiwiSaver, which lacks a government guarantee for the remaining funds.
