One beggar says to another 'I'm using an Emirates Team New Zealand cap!' The cap which he has in front of him is overflowing with money given by passers-by.
On 21 October 2013 the government agreed to make an initial $5 million payment to help Emirates Team New Zealand retain key crew members ahead of a decision on whether to mount another bid for The America's Cup. Whether further support was forthcoming depended on whether a challenge would be mounted and the extent of other sponsorships The ultimate commitment was unlikely to be different from the $36 million government support for the 2013 bid for the America's Cup. The cartoonist comments on the willingness of governments to donate money to the yachting world as opposed to other urgent societal needs.
