On 17 October 2013 the Green Party released its gambling policy, including mandatory pre-commitment cards for all electronic gambling machines from 2017, an end to direct advertising and inducements to problem gamblers, as well as strengthening the oversight of the gambling commission. The Party warned shareholders at the SkyCity annual meeting in Auckland on 18 October to expect profits made by the casino operator to take a hit if they are in power.
