Photograph album owned by the boxer Harry Lister

Album originally owned by Harry Lister, and probably compiled by him. Many images also possibly taken by him. The album is inscribed with two addresses: Lister's address in Australia and the Lister family home 'Maronan' near Ashburton, New Zealand

Images are taken chiefly in the 1930s, mainly when he was travelling overseas competing in boxing matches, particularly to Australia and England. Lister toured as Ambrose Palmer's sparring partner. Many of the photographs depict Lister with friends, acquaintances and possibly members of his extended family. Includes autographed photographs of boxers and others.

- two images showing a wide view of his match against John Condon in Melbourne, Australia, on 7 December 1934.

- images taken when he taking 'physical culture classes' on board the ships 'Monowai and 'Duchess of Richmond'.

- pictures including Australian boxer Ambrose Palmer, during the shipboard physical culture classes, and at Palmer's wedding.

- Some pictures taken in the Westland district and Canterbury region, particularly Ashburton, showing Lister and family members, including his sister Connie's wedding.

- Photograph of Harry Lister's siblings Anne, June, Nessie, Connie, with Carlyle McLeod (friend of Harry's brother Tom), at Mount Harper

- Colour prints taken circa 1980s at beginning of album show Harry Lister at his home in St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia; Pearl, Harry Lister's partner; unidentified woman

- Photographs taken at Mataura, Southland, where the Pryde family lived (Lister's mother's maiden name was Pryde)

- Photographs taken at Rangitata, Ashburton, showing piano teacher Mrs Chapman, Harry Chapman, and their daughters Mascot and Kura
