- Description
Depicts a crowd of desperate people on a ship 'Asia' trying to get on to a small lifeboat 'AUST-NZ'. However one of the two people in the lifeboat is brandishing a paddle, saying "..no room..form a queue". The other person in the lifeboat looks glum. Refers to Australia's policy to deter boat people by sending anyone seeking asylum to the Manus Island detention centre. 'Genuine' people would then be settled in Papua New Guinea or another country but not in Australia. All others would be returned to their country of origin or sent to another country willing to accept them. Prime Minister John Key has told visiting PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, New Zealand would consider taking refugees processed through Manus Island, but only as part of its United Nations quota (Radio New Zealand 8 August 2013).
