- Description
A woman going out to fetch firewood remarks to a neighbour 'He's always going on about people today not getting enough exercise and relying on labour-saving devices...But guess who's expected to bring in the firewood!' Her husband, lounging on a couch in front of the television, shouts at her to 'Shut the door!'
Despite labour-saving devices, the domestic distinction between 'women's work' and 'men's work' often seemed weighted in favour of men.
