- Description
Two members of an unnamed council planning department are talking about the "Inquiry" into the building consents on projects planned and designed by qualified architects and engineers. They hope that the "Inquiry" will 'find some fault with our works' because 'we can't have people thinking our oversight is redundant!' The cartoonist's comment is 'Cryptic logic'.
In May 2013, International Accrediation NZ started an assessement and report on the issuing of building consents by the Christchurch City council and the failure by the Council Chief Executive, Tony Maryatt, to manage the consenting department and to keep the Coucil informed. In July 2013, the IANZ withdrew the Council's accreditation to issue building consents.
