Winstone Peters, with his NZ First building firmly established on 'Racial grandstanding' smugly announces that 'You need a deep, solid foundation'. On each side of him the tottering houses of National and Labour, each precariously supported by the minor parties, appear ready to collapse into a chasm.
Both National and Labour found that their governing potentialities rested precariously on minor parties. The centrist New Zealand First Party could offer a firm foundation to either Labour or National for government, but at the cost of accepting the racist and discriminatory aspect of that Party. The cartoonist also refers to the bad winter weather of 2013, which had led to landslides and snow which had caused damage to some unstable houses in New Zealand.
