Description

The population of Christchurch, including animals, wade through flood waters on stilts. One citizen remarks 'Think this is bad...wait 'til Friday's storm rolls in!'

In mid June the earthquake-damaged drainage systems of Christchurch struggled to cope with flooding and with melting snow, especially among the more liquefaction-prone eastern areas of the city where the water table had risen by 15 centimetres. There seemed to be not let-up from further storms.
