Peter Dunne, the leader of the United Future Party, as a cockatoo, on Thursday watches as his feathers moult. On Friday, with no feathers left, his perch vanishes.
In June 2013, the United Future Party, led by Peter Dunne, was unable to provide an official list of 500 registered members, as required by the MMP Act. Peter Dunne's position in Parliament therefore changed from that of a party leader to being an independent member, with a concomitant loss of parliamentary funding. Peter Dunne's hairstyle did resemble the crest of coackatoo.
