- Description
Shows John Key standing on a peak representing 'Hungry Kids', looking very pleased with a packet of weetbix and jug of milk, some of which has splashed on his face. Beside him is the steep face of Mt Everest which he barely notices, with the sign, 'Their poorly paid parents'. Context is the announcement of the National Government's food in schools programme, which will provide thousands of children a free breakfast of weetbix and milk over 5 years, however the programme does not address the bigger issue of poverty. The announcement coincided with the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary's ascent of Mt Everest.
