In May 2013 the Ford Motor Company announced the shutting down of its manufacturing plants in Australia, thus ensuring a rise in price of their cars in Australia and New Zealand. Co-incidentally, the Hutchinson motor agency in Christchurch announced the arrival of the Ford Ecosport model, which at well over $50,000 was the most expensive Ford car to date.
