Description

In a Maori village in the Urewera Country a group of Maori children are looking at an underground shelter. One asks if it is to protect them from the next tornado. Another replies that it is to shelter them from the next Urewera raid.

The actions of the police raid in 2007 on Ruatoki over the issue of a possible terrorist training camp, as was confirmed by the findings of the Independent Police Conduct Authority in 2013, destroyed a lot of goodwill between them and the local Tuhoe people. The cartoon also refers to the tornado warnings for the Bay of Plenty in May 2013.
