Commentary from the artist: 'If Wellington is dying, I'd hate to see a dead city. As much as anything, John Key's comment is (in my humble estimation) an early shot on behalf of right-wing interests in the Wellington mayoral battle in the local government elections set for October 12.'
The Prime Minister, as a doctor tries to take the pulse of a skeleton. An off-stage comment remarks 'Crikey dick, she's kept that well hidden'. A note adds 'In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dr Key's National Party Local Government Orthopedic Repositioning Fund [before 12 October]'.
On 6 May 2013 the Prime Minister remarked that he thought Wellington was a dying city.
