Description

Shows a figure labelled Auckland, kneeling on the ground, in awe of a hand reaching down from the clouds. Instead of providing salvation, the hand, labelled, Nick Smith, pokes him in the head and says, 'No.' Refers to Housing Minister, Nick Smith, who has proposed making more land available for housing on the city's urban fringes and has flagged the possibility of intervention to speed up rezoning. Auckland faces a shortage of 20,000 - 30,000 houses, but others argue that expanding the city into pasture land is not the answer. (New Zealand Herald, 25 March 2013)
