Commentary from the cartoonist for cartoon 'Hydrochloric Assad' is 'Both the American and Uk governments seem to doubt if chemical weapons were actually used in Syria recently. Even so, the Syrian government's loud (and suspicious) claims make the atmosphere a lot more toxic than it was.' and for cartoon 'Hydrochloric Assad invites you' is 'As the vice tightens on the psychopathically cold Bashar as-Assad, all eyes are on his huge stockpiles of chemical weapons.'
'Hydrochloric Assad' is a parody of the nickname 'Chemical Ali' who developed chemical warfare under former President Saddam Hussein of Iraq. There are two different versions of the cartoon, the first being of Assad as a film director struggling to launch his chemical warfare 'epic' for the Oscar awards; the second is Assad inviting the world to a 'big screaming cocktail' at his place.
