Description

Shows a group of teachers in the teacher's lounge in front of a poster which reads, 'Maths crisis in NZ schools'. One teacher says, 'Half my class couldn't add one and one!', another says, 'Mine would answer - eleven', and a third says, 'Adding two identical numbers - my class would say that's a civil union'. Refers to a report by the Education Review Office (ERO) into children's mathematics education that found New Zealand schools lag internationally in their numeracy teaching of years 4 to 8 pupils.
