Shows United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, in a meeting with Ahmad Mouaz Al-Khatib, President of the National Coalition for Opposition Forces and the Syrian Revolution. Kerry tells him that the US is 'prepared to increase our humanitarian aid' and Al-Khatib responds, 'In that case, more body bags would be good' Context: The US has pledged an additional $60 million dollars in aid to opposition forces in Syria for food, medical supplies, and other services in rebel-controlled areas. According to UN estimates, more than 70,000 people have been killed in Syria since the revolt against President Assad began nearly two years ago. Opposition fighters have been constantly outgunned as President Assad's forces deploy tanks, aircraft and missiles against them. (BBC News, 1 March 2013)
