- Description
Titled 'A New twist', the cartoon represents the Prime Minister John Key as Dickens' Mr Bumble the beadle, and a worker, representing Oliver Twist, asking for more, or in this case, a living wage.
In February 2013 the Kiwi Living Wage campaign, which claimed that the official minimum wage was insufficient to prevent poverty and which was supported by the trade union movement made news. The response of the National Party government was less than enthusiastic.
