Prime Minister John Key and Minister of Finance Bill English are driving a car with the number plate 'Govt'. One of the car's wheels has the face of ACT Party leader John Banks and is labelled 'Banks'. This wheel is ill-fitting and causes loud noises to emit, affecting the car's stability. English states 'Dodgy wheel John . . . do we change it?' Key replies they can't as there's no spare. Context: A series of scandals involving John Banks increasingly made him a liability to the Key-led National Government. There were calls for Key to remove Banks as coalition partner in the government. Key, however, chose to ignore these calls and to continue to defend Banks as he needed him in parliament to give his government the majority it needed.
