- Description
Shows a Hawaiian man and woman walking together arm in arm. The woman wears a white cloth draped across her, though her breasts are bare. She holds a gourd that has been fashioned into a decorative piece. She wears a headband and a necklace; her hair appears thick and quite matted. The man is also elegantly dressed: he wears an elaborate head-dress and feathered cloak, and carries a fan, also made of feathers. He sports a moustache and beard and his legs are tattooed. A European-style building can be glimpsed in the background
Based on John Webber's image of 1779 (A-054-018), as well as taking elements from Webber's drawing of 'A man of the Sandwich Islands dancing', executed in 1784 (C-131-062)
