Description

Cartoon shows a cup of tea in which the new leader of the ACT Party, John Banks, attempts to guide his semi-submerged ship.

Context: John Banks after winning the only seat for ACT, has been made the new leader in place of Don Brash. The tea refers to the much-publicised tea party between the Prime Minister John Key and the candidate for Epsom John Banks. The tea-party was supposed to signal the government's backing of John Banks's candidacy. Their conversaton was recorded and John Key tried to have the recording suppressed, unsuccessfully.
