Finance Minister Bill English reads a report from Treasury that says savings from asset sales will be less than the forgone profits. Energy Minister Gerry Brownlee comments that those who buy the shares will do well even though the country is poorer and Prime Minister John Key struggles to find a better way of saying this. Context: cartoon refers to the government's intention to sell some state assets for economic benefit. The Opposition is asking why we would sell something earning us 18.5% because we're terrified of borrowing at 4% to keep it capitalised and performing? (Listener, Jane Clifton March 3 2012)
