Context: (Wordplay cheques - sex) ACT Party leader John Banks received a donation in the form of two cheques that amounted to $50,000 from internet millionaire Kim Dotcom during his campaign for the Auckland supercity mayoralty in 2010 but declared it as anonymous in his campaign returns. Failure to declare donations where a candidate knows the source is punishable by up to two years imprisonment and an NZ$10,000 fine.
