Shows SSSR President Brezhnev driving a huge tank over Poland. In the background are the crushed remains of Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan. Facing the tank is US President Ronald Reagan holding a Pershing ll missile but between him and the tank is a crowd of protesters carrying a banner that reads 'European Peace Movement'. Context: The USA was experiencing problems with protest groups amongst their European allies, especially in Britain, who didn't want the new Pershing intercontinental missiles based in their countries. Development and deployment of the redesigned Pershing II took place in a background of intense (largely Soviet-sponsored) political controversy over nuclear weapons in Europe.
