The three versions of the cartoon refer to the controversy over 'mondayisation'. This year, 2012, Waitangi Day falls on a Sunday and Anzac Day falls on Easter Monday, meaning most workers will not get these two days as a paid holiday. A a poll reveals that most people want public holidays to be "Mondayised" if they fall on a Sunday or a another public holiday. Labour intends to introduce a members bill to ensure holidays that fall on a weekend can be taken another day.
