- Description
Reporter asks the radio commentator, Leighton Smith, why he happens to mention the name of NZ Pure, a brand of beer manufactured by Independent Breweries, so often in his commentary. The reply is 'Pure Coincidence!'. The cartoonist's comment is 'Right!'
A comment on the advertising strategy of slipping commercial references, 'plugging', outside the parameters of normal paid advertising. The reference to 'Right!' refers to the 'Yeah right' series, which also advertises one of the problems of New Zealand, excess alcohol consumption of inferior beers, in a covert manner.
