Description

Cartoon displays a ship's captain, obviously drunk, on the bridge of a ship. The chart which he is holding shows his alcohol consumption. In the capsizing of the cruise liner Costa Concordia off Italy on 16 Jan 2012, the captain, Francesco Schettino, was prosecuted; drunkeness, while first suspected, does not appear in his charge sheet. Also refers to the wrecking of the container vessel, Rena, off Astrolabe Reef, Bay of Plenty in Oct 2011, in which alcohol may have been involved.
