Context: David Shearer has won the leadership of the Labour Party, after unexciting polling in the 2011 general election, with Phil Goff as leader. And the Black Caps cricket team created history on 12th December 2011 by beating Australia for the first time on Australian soil in twenty six-years. Doug Bracewell was the hero of the hour as New Zealand secured an unlikely seven-run triumph over Australia after a thrilling finish at Hobart's Blundstone Arena.
