Rev John Whiteley, Lieut Bamber Gascoigne, his wife Annie and three small children, John Milne, aged 40 and Edward Richards aged 35 were killed at Pukaruhe Redoubt (White Cliffs, North Taranaki) on 13 Feb 1869

The memorial was erected probably in 1871 in Te Henui (New Plymouth) Cemetery
