- Description
In the smaller frame a conversation is heard between a father and his young son. The boy asks 'Why don't we bring our soldiers home Dad?' and his father replies 'The PM says that would dishonour the fallen'. In the larger frame the boy wanders away from his father with a rugby ball under his arm and comments 'When did war's consequence become the reason to wage it?' Context: New Zealand's elite troops in Afghanistan will not be coming home early despite the death of an SAS soldier in a gun battle in the capital, Kabul. PM John Key is sticking to a withdrawal date of March 2012.
