Description

A pansy with the face of MP Pansy Wong grows in a pot labelled 'Wong perks'. Beside the pot is a bag of fertiliser in which a trowel with the face of PM John Key stands; he says 'I'm not protecting her!!' Above is a rhyme entitled 'Pansies', which reads 'Grow best in loose rich soil. Decline in the heat. Do not last a full season. Need water and fertiliser'. Refers to the resignation of Minister of Women's Affairs Pansy Wong after it was revealed that on a trip to China in 2008 her husband Sammy Wong was involved in a business deal. An independent investigation of travel claims by Mrs Wong and her husband Sammy was ordered by Speaker Lockwood. The trip was made with a 90 percent taxpayer-funded rebate on their airfares, and it is against the rules to use the allowance for private business. Mrs Wong has apologised and paid back the $474 rebate for the China trip. An Auditor-General's inquiry called for by the Labour opposition is not considered necessary.
