Comprises original printed items in Maori of `He Wakaputanga o Te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tirene', annotated (1835); circular assembling the chiefs to meet Hobson on his arrival (1840); `Te Wananga' (n36, 14 Oct 1876); editorial re political matters (Hawke's Bay Herald, 14 Oct 1876); blank form of land sale deed; circular letter from Raka (ie Locke) re voting procedures, Napier (16 Jan 1871); circular letter to McLean from Moana re electoral matters (Waiohiki, 24 Aug 1872); circular notice to the Rangatira of Taranaki and Ngatiruanui from Tamati Koa Paraone (Thomas Gore-Browne) with conditions for peace following the first Taranaki fighting (six copies) (Ngamotu, 15 Apr 1861); letter from Te Kawana to the rangatira Maori of Poneke and Wairarapa with regard to the fighting at Taranaki in 1860 (Auckland, Apr 1960); notice, Ko te Korerotanga a Kawana, dealing with land issues at Taranaki associated with the first fighting (3 May 1860); circular from Wi Tako Ngatata criticising Wiremu Kingi for the fighting at Taranaki (Waitoki, Taranaki 10 Apr 1860); notice from Te Kawana, Panuitanga, renouncing the government's claims to `Teira's block' (11 May 1863)
